Who, has had more than one guide?
Did you go to the same school the second time around?
Share your thoughts and experience on the schools you attended.

Well, wha about yourself. Did you have or do you have a second dog, and did you go to the same school.
As for myself, I just received my second dog back in September and he's a black Lab named Rascal. He's so adorable and I love him so much. I had my first dog only for about nine monhs or so. I decided to give her back due o personal issues and my current situation as I wasn't geting out much so it was best. But she was a great introduction so I knew i waned another. i jus had o wai for he righ time. So now hree years laer here we are, me and my Rascals. I received him from Guide Dogs For The Blind, and wen there originally as well, same school, same campus in San Rafael California.
There's my sory.

I hope to get a second guide dog. But they want me to work with my cane first. I now how to use the cane so you might be worndering why do they want me to do it again, well I think it is because I didn't go out a lot with my first guide dog Luke. Luke was a cross Lab Retriever Yellow. I keep him as a pet now. He is retired. I got him from Larkhall guide dog centre in scotland in the UK. I am not sure how I will get the second dog I think they train you iether in a hotel or in your own house. I am currently sponcering a puppy to becm a guide dog. Her name is Dana she is a black Labrador.

My first dog was from guide dogs for the blind, California campus. His name was Darby, a yellow lab, we were together for 14 years.

I'm feeling ready for another one, but I'm not very busy right now, so I don't think it would be fair on a young guide. When the time is right, I'll definitely have a guide dog again.

For my first guide dog, I attended training at the Boring Oregon campus of Guide Dogs for the blind. Steven had a rare form of cancer, which was diagnosed about a year ago, so he had to retire, after onlhy eight or nine months with me. It was heart-wrenching to give him back, but it's the school's policy. He passed away on May tenth.
For my current dog, I have a female black labrador named ditra. she is extremely well-behaved. *smile* She doesn't even bark. lol i'm happy with her, very happy indeed.

I'm also on my second guide dog. I got my first one from Mira, a school in Quebec. I had her only for a year though, as she developed arthritis and was no longer able to work. I know the pain of parting with a guide though; there's nothing quite like it. I went back to Mira for my second dog, and Bonsai and I have been together for about two and a half years now.

I know someone who is with a second guide dog. She said the first dog she had had to be retired because she had a fear of traveling, but she has had her second guide dog for about 6 years.

It was amazing to have him for so long. Darby probably didn't fully retire until he was around 12 or 13. He loved his work so much and I was so fortunate to be able to slowly scale work back for him. Let him still enjoy what he could.

Lol, about a year after he officially retired, I got out his harness and leesh. I thought a quick walk to the mailbox, wonder how he would feel about that? We're talking a block away at most. Hehehehe, if he could have spoken, I think it would have gone something like... "ARe you nuts!? What part of retired don't you understand!?" He stood still and looked up at me. I just cracked up and heeled him to the mailbox. Once that dog was retired, he fully embraced the experience!

My destinguished DarbyDoo!
